Hear From Our Community
Real stories from families and professionals who trust us with what matters most.
When my son turned 22 and aged out of the school system, I was terrified. I didn't know where to turn or how he would manage without that structure. Helping Hands Supported Living didn't just give him a support plan—they gave him a life. He's cooking his own meals, taking the bus to his volunteer job, and last month he told me, "Mom, I like being a grown-up." I never thought I'd hear those words. This team sees him for who he is, not what his diagnosis says he can't do.

As a service coordinator with San Diego Regional Center, I've worked with many supported living providers over the years. What sets Helping Hands Supported Living apart is their consistency and genuine investment in every individual. They don't just meet the goals on the IPP—they help their clients dream bigger ones. Their communication with our office is exceptional, and I always feel confident when I refer families to them. They truly raise the bar for what supported living should look like.

Frequently Asked Questions
Get quick answers to common questions about our supported living services.
What are Supported Living Services?
Supported Living Services (SLS) is a California program that provides individualized, in-home support to adults with developmental disabilities. Services are tailored to each person and can include help with daily living skills, community access, health and safety support, social skills development, and more — all designed to help individuals live as independently as possible in their own homes.
Who is eligible for services?
Our services are available to adults (18 and older) with developmental disabilities who are clients of the San Diego Regional Center. If your loved one is already an SDRC client, they may qualify for supported living services. If they aren't yet connected with SDRC, we can help guide you through the intake process.
How is this funded?
Supported living services are funded through the San Diego Regional Center. For eligible individuals, there is typically no out-of-pocket cost to families. SDRC coordinates funding as part of the individual's Individual Program Plan (IPP). We handle the coordination so you can focus on what matters.
How quickly can services start?
We can begin the intake process immediately after your initial consultation. The timeline depends on factors such as SDRC authorization and individual needs, but we work proactively to move things forward as quickly as possible. Many families are connected with services within a few weeks of first contact.
What areas do you serve?
We serve all of San Diego County — including San Diego, Chula Vista, Oceanside, Escondido, Carlsbad, El Cajon, Vista, San Marcos, Encinitas, National City, La Mesa, and surrounding communities. If you're in the San Diego region, we can support you.
